Microsoft and AT&T Press Conference on Windows Phone 7
Posted by Leonard Ah Kun in Phone 7
Here’s the video of yesterdays press conference. I must say, it doesn’t feel as cool as an Apple event. When Apple releases something trivial, everyone is in awe and amazed. When Microsoft does it, it just seems a bit lame. Anyway, here’s 60 minutes of Phone 7 goodness..

Just finished watching it. Ballmer is really difficult to watch…painful at times. They should have dumped him and stuck with the chief designer, who had a bit of life at least.
I’m not totally sold on the interface, but I’m pleasantly surprised at Microsoft’s emphasis on good design. Gone are the days of having a mini version of windows on your handset, which was truly awful.
Will be interested to see how the interface translates to the tablet, which I’m sure will be coming soon.
All in all, I’d like to play with a handset myself, and I’m sure it’s going to be popular. Nice work Microsoft…back in the game.
Their interface is pretty slick. I’m not liking the front page square mono-coloured tiles, but I definitely like their sliding panoramic interface. The animations are quite cool, but I suspect they might get irritating after a while. Hopefully they allow you to switch it off.
Yeah, the panoramic interface has been in the Zune for years. I much prefer that interface to the iPod interface.
