Facebook Mobile Platform Event

The absurd rumor was that Facebook was launching a phone. That obviously didn’t happen.
Here is what happened…four announcements related to Facebook mobile:
- The iPhone app will be updated and the Android app will get ‘Places’ and ‘Groups’. Woohoo.
- Single sign-on: Mobile apps can have their users sign-on using their Facebook credentials. Nice.
- The ‘Places’ API is to be opened: read/write/search all available.
- A new ‘Deals’ platform: businesses (only in the US for now) can advertise deals and those Facebook users in the area can claim them.
Not earth shattering news, but interesting nonetheless.
